The Diamond Isle
The Perect antidote to city stresses without the hassle of air travel

The Isle of Wight is a magnificent Island separated from mainland England by as little as 3 miles of water and is accessible only by ferry.  The Island has retained its unique charm & beauty with Shanklin being one of the most visited seaside resorts on the Island. Shanklin Esplanade  was made popular in the nineteenth century and still maintains a Victorian charm.

Within its 23 by 13 mile span the Isle of Wight boasts a great variety of attractions with something to suit everyone. Historic buildings such as Queen Victoria's country residence of Osborne House; manor houses with vineyards; animal sanctuaries and theme parks, wildlife centres, tenpin bowling.  England's diamond-shaped 'Garden Isle' is one of the sunniest parts of the country and over half the Island is designated as an
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
- the perfect antidote to city stresses without the hassle of air travel.

The Waterfront Inn is also a short walk from the  Shanklin Chine (which was once the haunt of smugglers) and the picturesque thatched cottages of Shanklin's  Old Village which offer a range of tearooms, gift shops and restaurants. A cliff lift and quaint road train operates between the seafront, town centre with modern amenities and the Old Village during the holiday season.

Local attractions also include cafés, restaurants, putting green, crazy golf, arcades and indoor children's play area.  There are five hundred miles of footpaths that make the island a walker's paradise. For cyclist's, there are a myriad of designated routes, bridleways and spectacular coastas tracks.

Shanklin - Sandown has the Island's longest bay with a safe sandy Blue Flag beach.

The Island hosts a number of Festivals & Events and is rich in visible history and historic houses.  All these, combined with the world famous sailing Regatta at Cowes have turned the island into what The Observer calls the 'new cool'
