The Waterfront Inn was built around 1800 and was known as
'Norfolk House'.

Our most famous visitor Charles Darwin frequented 'Norfolk House' in the 1850's whilst working on the 'Origin of the Species', and who said of Shanklin  
"We think this, the nicest seaside place we have ever seen"

Today we still offer Bed & Breakfast in our eight en-suite bedrooms. 
These range from Single, Doubles, Twin and Family suite many with Sea views.
